While in its original release, the Sirius XM iPhone app omitted adult radio station such as The Howard Stern Show, in 2010 the app was redone, allowing 17+ material to be played on the app. If your kids enjoy some of the stations on your Sirius XM iPhone app, you might not want them to unwittingly stumble upon stations that are too mature for their ears. While you cannot block stations within the app, you can contact Sirius XM to have mature stations blocked so they aren't played on the app.
Instructions
1. Contact Sirius XM customer support at 1-866-635-2349. Give the support personnel your name, account number and password, if applicable.
2. Ask that you switch your package to the "family package" (which omits all 17+ stations) or ask that specific channels be blocked from the app. As of 2011, there is no way to block a singular channel from your app. In fact, the Sirius XM user agreement specifically states that some stations contain adult material and it is the listener's responsibility to adjust access to stations as necessary.
3. Check your app to see that the station is blocked. Open the app and touch "Settings." Select "Show Blocked Stations" to view those that are blocked on your account. If they are not blocked on your overall account, they will not be blocked within the app.
