Take Apart A Nextel I855

Disassemble your Nextel i855 cell phone.

The i855, a cell phone manufactured by Motorola, is primarily used on the Boost Mobile wireless network. The phone has text messaging, push-to-talk and data tethering capabilities. The i855 also features a large 176-by-220 pixel display screen, and a built-in digital camera. Taking apart your Motorola phone gives you the ability to make major repairs and do routine maintenance. Performing this procedure yourself will void your phone's service warranty.

Instructions

1. Hold down the power button for a few seconds until the phone shuts off. Close the flip screen. Place the phone face down in your palm. Remove the back battery cover, and lift the battery out of its compartment.

2. Remove all Phillips-head screws from the phone's rear housing. Pull the antenna out of its slot, and remove it from the phone. Insert a credit card into the gap along the outside edge of the rear housing. Work your way around the entire housing until back piece is completely removed. This reveals the main circuit board.

3. Unplug the visible ribbon cables from the circuit board. Loosen the Phillips-head or star screws fastening the circuit board in place. Lift the circuit board out of the phone slightly, and unplug the ribbon cables from the opposite side of the circuit board. Remove the circuit board from the phone.

4. Place the phone face up, and open the flip screen. Use a small, flat-head screwdriver to remove the rubber screw covers from the phone's face plate. Loosen the revealed Phillips-head screws, and pry the faceplate from the phone with a credit card.

5. Grasp the LCD screen, and remove it from its housing inside the phone.
