A teleconference involves connecting two or more people who are in different locations through the dial-up telephone lines. You can use your own phone to arrange a teleconference or you can use some type of bridging service. Bridging services provide a central telephone number that meeting participants access from their phone using a pass code number.
Instructions
Using Your Own Phone
1. Schedule a date and time for the teleconference to take place. Make all the parties involved aware of the meeting date and time. This can be accomplished through a quick email containing the meeting details or by placing a call personally to each individual person.
2. Dial the first party's number. Confirm the person's presence on the line and make sure you have a good connection.
3. Press the "CONF or CONF/TRN" key located on your telephone. Listen for a dial tone and dial the next party number.
4. Press the "CONF or CONF/TRN" key again to connect all parties. Repeat this procedure to add as many parties allowed by your telephone manufacturer.
Using Bridging Services
5. Locate a company that provides bridging services. Unlimited Conferencing and PGI are two companies that offer this service. Once you locate a company and sign up, you will be provided with your own dedicated number and access code.
6. Schedule your conference. Many platforms are provided for you to schedule your teleconference sessions. You can schedule it online on the company's website or call in to schedule it.
7. Send meeting information to all parties involved in the conference. Provide them with the dial-in number and pass code to enter into the conference session. Many companies provide a handy RSVP email invitation tool that you can can use to send to your group.
