Replace the LCD screen in your Sony SDM-S94 flat-panel monitor.
LCD screens crack easily if mishandled or dropped. The SDM-S94 is a flat-panel LCD monitor manufactured by Sony in early 2004. Like any flat-panel monitor, the screen itself is made up of a liquid crystal matter sandwiched between two glass plates. Replacing the screen in your SDM-S94 monitor requires that you dismantle the monitor's outer casing. While this is possible for the average computer user, doing so will void your manufacturer's warranty.
Instructions
1. Turn off the LCD monitor and power down the computer or device it is connected to. Unplug the monitor's power and data cables. Allow 15 to 30 minutes before attempting to dismantle the screen.
2. Place the screen facedown on a soft, flat surface. Remove the Phillips-head screws fastening the monitor's stand to the display panel. Remove the stand from the monitor.
3. Remove all Phillips-head screws from the back of the monitor's casing. Flip the display panel over so the screen is facing upward. Insert a thin, flat-head screwdriver into the crease along the monitor casing's outer edge. Begin prying the monitor's front bezel from the display panel. The front bezel is the main plastic piece on the front side of the screen. Work your way around the entire screen until the front bezel is completely removed and the screen is exposed.
4. Remove the Phillips-head screws in the four corners of the LCD screen that also fasten the screen to the metal framing inside the display panel. Grasp the top edge of the LCD screen and tilt it forward until the backside of the screen is exposed. Disconnect the multi-colored LCD video cable from the connector on the back of the screen. Peel away any tape fastening the cable to the back of the screen. Lift the screen out of the display panel and set it aside.
5. Place the new LCD screen inside the display panel, and reconnect the LCD video cable to the connector on the back of the new screen. Place the screen inside the display panel, and replace the Phillips-head screws fastening it to its metal framing. Place the front bezel back on top of the screen. Press down on the bezel's four corners until it snaps into place.
6. Place the monitor so the screen is facing downward. Replace all screws to the back of the monitor casing to fasten the front bezel in place. Reattach the monitor's stand and its retaining Phillips-head screws.
