Use Flash Templates To Build Websites

A Flash website can be a lot more interactive than a standard HTML site.

Using Flash templates to build a Flash-based website is easier and less time-consuming than building a site from scratch. Templates are premade websites that allow the user to simply fill in the blanks. Templates require the designer to do very little (if any) coding. The designer should still be familiar with Adobe Flash to maximize the use of the template and make the process that much easier. However, advanced knowledge of XML or graphic and animation skills is not required.

Instructions

1. Download and install Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is the most comprehensive program for designing Flash-based websites. It is the native software for Flash files. It can be downloaded at adobe.com. Adobe offers a 30-day free trial of its software. After the trial expires, the software can be purchased for $699.

2. Download a Flash template. Many templates can be downloaded for free. However, more expansive and functional templates may have to be purchased. Templates generally do not cost more than $100. Sites such as templatemonster.com; dreamtemplate.com; wix.com; flashmo.com; flashmint.com; flash-template-design.com and flashtemplates.com offer a combination of paid and free templates. Be sure the purchased template is as close to final as possible. The less customization the template requires, the easier it will be to configure.

3. Open Adobe Flash. Click "File," "Open" and navigate to the template file on the computer (it will have a .fla file extension.) Double click on this file to open it. The template should now open in Flash. Use the "Timeline" on the top of the Flash screen to navigate between pages. Customize text by using the "Text" tool (found in the tools menu) and click on the template's text to edit it. To replace template images with custom images right click on the image in the template and click "replace." Navigate to the replacement image on the hard drive and select it.

4. Once all the images and text have been customized, the website is ready to be published. Click "File," "Publish," "Publish to Website." Select where the files should be published to using the navigator and enter in a "File Name." Click "Save."
