What Does Animation Mean On A Samsung Vibrant

Most smartphones, including the Samsung Vibrant, come with a feature that animates the interchanging, opening and closing of application windows as they fill the devices' display screens. The Vibrant's animation also occurs when starting the device up and shutting it down. You can change the Vibrant's animation settings through its settings interface.

Applications and Settings

When opening an application window on the Samsung Vibrant, the display screen changes from the device's home screen to the opened application by moving the application's window into the forefront in an animated fashion. Settings for these animations include Some Animations or All Animations. The Some Animations setting randomly chooses to animate application window openings and closings, while the No Animations setting sets the phone to not animate any application window openings and closings.

Display Screen

The Samsung Vibrant features a 4-inch super active matrix organic LED capacitive touch screen that displays more than 16 million colors at 480 by 800 pixels of resolution. Capacitive touch screens are designed to respond to the electromagnetism emitted by human flesh and won't respond to other stimuli, such as a stylus or eraser tip. In addition to animation, each of the Vibrant's other display features, such as screen timeout, brightness level and auto rotate, are set and changed through the device's settings interface.

Changing Settings

Change the Vibrant's animation and other display settings by tapping the menu key, "Settings" and then "Display." The resulting screen gives you access to all of the device's display settings. Using some of the device's display settings to their fullest can have a negative impact on its battery life. For instance, setting the Vibrant's brightness level to maximum requires more energy and will lead to draining the battery more quickly, while minimizing the brightness level will prolong the battery life.

Display Features

The Samsung Vibrant's display features enable you to change the ways you view content on the device. For instance, the font style option allows you to change the text styles displayed on the device and include several options, such as Rosemary and Cool Jazz. The auto rotate feature, when activated, changes the content displayed from portrait to landscape depending on the way you hold the device. The screen timeout feature provides a specified amount of delay time before automatically turning the device off due to inactivity. Screen timeout intervals include 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes and 10 minutes.
