Make Homemade Holiday Photo Backdrops

You can make a holiday photo backdrop using just a few basic tools.

Taking a holiday photo at Christmastime is a great idea for a Christmas card or family portrait, but having this type of photo taken at a specialty store can be expensive. You can easily take this kind of photo yourself at home. A holiday backdrop sets the tone for the photo, and can easily be made with a few basic tools and materials.

Instructions

1. Cut a piece of light blue craft paper that is about 6 feet long. Craft paper is large paper that comes on a roll and is about 3 feet wide. It can be purchased at most craft stores. Lay the light blue paper on the floor.

2. Buy a stencil that is shaped like a snowflake. These stencils can usually be found at craft stores around the holidays. Lay the stencil on the paper and fill in the design with white paint. Gently peel back the stencil and repeat until the whole paper is dotted with white snowflakes. Let dry.

3. Hang the paper backdrop on a bare wall, securing it to the wall with painter's tape, which will protect the wall paint. Place a few chairs in front of the backdrop for family members to sit in for the photo.
