Install Sirius In A 4runner

Sirius satellite radio provides music and entertainment.

Many Sirius satellite radio models are geared toward vehicle use and come with installation materials. Though some owners opt to have this system installed by a professional, others choose to install it themselves and, with a bit of patience and attention to detail, complete the installation in a few hours.

Instructions

1. Determine the best location for your dash mount, ensuring that the radio will not obstruct your view of the road or the air bag. Clean the area with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry for at least two minutes.

2. Secure the dash mount to the vehicle dock using the Phillips-head screwdriver and screws. Peel the backing off the foot of the dash mount and secure it firmly in place. Allow it to dry, untouched for 24 hours, to ensure the best adhesion.

3. Locate a clear area on the rear roof of the 4Runner, above the rear window and as close to center as possible. Allow for at least 3 inches of clearance completely around the antenna. Clean the area with a mild cleaner and rag, and allow it to dry. Secure the magnetic antenna to the cleaned area.

4. Cover the length of the antenna cable where it lays on the roof with the rubber cover/tail. Affix the cover tail to the roof and allow 72 hours to reach maximum adhesion before making further contact.

5. Pull the weatherstripping away from the top of the rear-door opening beneath the antenna and continue pulling along the top right and down the right side until you reach the bottom of the opening where it meets the interior floor. Push the cable into the cavity and press the weatherstripping firmly back into place.

6. Using the putty knife, lift up the edge of the interior trim where it meets the floor carpet, and push the free length of cable underneath. Route it up and over the wheel well, pushing it under the inside wall panel with the putty knife. Continue pushing the cable under the floor trim on the other side of the wheel well as you work toward the front of the 4Runner.

7. Exit the cable from under the trim, where it reaches the passenger-side floorboard, then pull the floor carpet back as you route the cable underneath it and over to the center console. Guide the cable up to the plug-in on the Sirius radio and coil up any excess length under the carpet or passenger floor mat. Secure the coil with the plastic wire ties to keep it compact.

8. Plug the antenna cable into the "ANT" outlet on the vehicle dock. Insert the cigarette lighter adapter into the 12V power outlet in the 4Runner, and plug the opposite end into the 5VDC port on the vehicle dock. Position the rear mounting slots of the Sirius radio over the rails attached to the vehicle dock and push it down until firmly in place.

9. Follow the instructions in your user manual on operate and set up your Sirius satellite radio to receive service.
