There are many techniques used to edit digital pictures.
Digital photography has given photographers the opportunity to get more creative than ever before with their photographs. There are a variety of digital editing techniques that can be used on digital pictures which enhance the photo in different ways. These editing techniques are often available on basic as well as complex photo editing software.
Blur/Overlay
A blur and overlay technique allows a photographer to blur the background of an image, then place an overlay on the image to increase the contrast of the colors. Darker tones are made slightly darker, and lighter tones are made slightly brighter, but the blur keeps the image soft and not harsh to the eyes. This is an easy technique that can be used on almost any photograph, including portraits as well as nature shots.
Filter the Background
In order to add a bit of dimension to a photo, a photographer could try filtering the background of any digital picture. This is a technique which allows a photographer to put one effect on the background of the photograph, while keeping the subject of the photograph in focus. A variety of filters can be used on this, including filters that blur the background, thatch the background or add a different type of effect to the background of the photograph.
Easy Blur
One way to turn a special photograph into a sweet, memorable moment is to use the easy blur technique. The blur technique can be set at different levels, so the photographer can decide just how blurred he would like the photograph to be. Setting it at about 50 percent will give the photo a dream-like quality, and will add a touch of emotion to any photograph.
Adjust Brightness
One simple photo editing technique is to adjust the brightness of a photograph. Many photographs taken indoors, or with less than ideal outdoor light, may appear dark and dingy. By simply adjusting the brightness setting on any photo editing software, a photographer will be able to make that image into something it never would have been before the editing process. This is a technique that can be used on any type of photograph --- including portrait shots, as well as landscape scenes.
