The Canon Powershot A540 is a 6.0 megapixel digital camera that uses a 4x optical zoom lens for picture taking. Additional features include a 2 1/2- inch display screen, built-in flash, and automatic and red eye reduction modes. Instead of taking the camera immediately to a Canon service provider when you develop a problem, you can perform some troubleshooting on your own.
Instructions
1. Update the driver for your Canon Powershot A540. Check the Canon website to view any available driver updates for your digital camera. Download the update, and then connect the camera to your computer via the USB cable.
2. Replace the batteries for your Canon Powershot A540. If you are using rechargeable batteries, charge them fully, and then try to use the camera again. Otherwise place new AA batteries into the camera. You can also use the AC adapter in case of battery failure.
3. Unlock the memory card. Make sure the tab of the memory card is not set to "Write Protect." You will receive the error message "Card Locked" if you try to save photos to the memory card. Other memory card issues can be resolved by formatting the memory card or using a new one.
4. Raise the ISO speed from the "Menu" button on your Canon Powershot A540 digital camera. Raising the ISO speed can resolve the issue of a slow shutter speed.
5. Change the exposure settings of your Canon Powershot A540 camera. Change to a positive number through the camera's "Menu" key if subjects are underexposed, and to a negative number if they are overexposed.
