As of June 12, 2009 the transition from analog signal television to digital signal television was complete. New model television sets come with an internal digital tuner and only need a good TV antenna to work. Old analog television sets, however, must now be outfitted with a digital converter box in order to pick up free local channels.
Instructions
Beginning the Set Up
1. Turn off your television before making your connections.
2. Disconnect the antenna from your television set, if needed.
3. Screw or plug your television antenna into the "Ant RF In" nodule on the back of your digital converter box.
Coaxial Cable
4. Screw or plug one end of the coaxial cable into the coaxial nodule labeled either "TV output" or "AV/ RF Out" depending on your digital converter unit.
5. Screw or plug the other end of your coaxial cable into the "Ant In" nodule on the back of your TV.
6. Turn your television on.
RCA Cables
7. Plug one end of your set of RCA audio & video cables into the RCA output jacks of your digital converter. Match the color of the plug to the color of the jack.
8. Plug the other end of your RCA audio & video cables into the RCA input jacks of your TV.
9. Turn your television on and depending upon the user guidelines of your TV do one of the following:
Use the Input button on your TV remote control to set the television picture to the matching video input channel for the RCA input jack used in plugging the RCA cables into your TV.
OR
Turn your TV to the designated channel corresponding to the video input jack used in plugging the RCA cables into your television.
Final Set Up
10. Plug in the power chord for your converter box.
11. Turn your converter box on.
12. Perform a channel scan to pick up the local television signals in your area. This process varies among different converter units. Some units allow you to perform this scan directly by simply pressing a "Scan" button on your remote. Other units might only allow you to perform this action indirectly by going through the converter's Menu Options. Select "Menu" on your converter remote. Scroll through the menu choices and select the option to scan channels.
