Repair A Canon Rebel Zoom Camera Lens

Fix your zoom lens.

The Canon Rebel is a popular line of camera that comes in both digital and 35mm film formats. All Canon Rebel cameras have a detachable zoom lens when you purchase the camera. However, you can run into issues with the camera, such as the shutter opening or the lens leaving spots on your pictures. Most of these issues you can correct yourself; however, if there is damage to the lens glass such as a scratch, the lens cannot be repair and must be replaced.

Instructions

1. Remove the batteries from your Canon Rebel and place new batteries into the camera. Old batteries cause the camera to not function correctly, including keeping the zoom lens from opening its shutter.

2. Wipe off the lens with a lens cleaner. A hand-held air blower also is useful when removing dust. This tool looks like a small blower you use in a baby's ears and nose. Once clean, dust and spots will no longer appear on you pictures.

3. Set the camera on a table with the lens facing up. Hold down the power and the shutter button. The camera is going to automatically focus on the ceiling and realign. This is helpful if your camera isn't zooming or focusing properly.

4. Press the lens release button on the side of the lens and turn it counter-clockwise until the lens spins off. Reattach the lens back onto the camera. This can correct any connection problems the camera is having with the lens.
