Buy An Analog Capture Device

Import your analog content

If you want to import older video content onto your computer (such as from VHS tapes or analog cameras) you need an analog capture device connected to your computer. This capture device imports the analog content from the old video devices and saves it to a video editing program. However, there are many different analog capture devices available on the market so you need to know what works best for your needs.

Instructions

1. Check to see if the analog capture device is made for your operating system. If you are running a Mac computer you are going to find itmore difficult to obtain analog capture devices (although there are a few different models available).

2. Look at the packaging to see if the analog capture device is internal or external. If the device is internal you must open the computer up and install it into one of the PCI card slots. External cards install through a USB port.

3. Inspect the product to find out what analog capture ports are available on the device. These can range from coaxial cable, RCA and S-video.

4. Find out if the product comes with video editing software. You need video editing software installed on your computer if you want to actually import footage onto your computer.

5. Purchase the product from either in store on online. You are more likely to find a wider variety of options over the Internet, but you are going to pay a shipping price.
