Transfer Video From A Panasonic Nevada Gs22eg Digital Video Camera To A Computer

Connecting a video camera to your computer with a single FireWire cable.

The Panasonic NV-GS200 camera series (including the GS22eG) is a digital video camera that records audio and video directly onto a miniDV tape. Once recorded, you need the help of a video editing program to upload the contents to your computer system. Thankfully, the computer already has a editor pre-installed, so you don't need to go out and purchase additional software.

Instructions

1. Plug the FireWire cable into the FireWire port on the side of the Panasonic NV-GS22EG digital video camera.

2. Attach the other end of the cable into a FireWire port on the computer. This port looks similar to a USB connection, only one side is slightly curved and a "Y" icon is printed next to it.

3. Click "Start," "All Programs," then choose "Windows Movie Maker." Once the program loads power on the video camera and set it to "View."

4. Click the "Capture" option in the video editor, then choose the connected Panasonic video camera and click "Record." The video content from the miniDV tape now uploads directly to the computer system. Click "Stop" at any time to stop the capture process.
