Ground A Car Amplifier In A 1997 Dodge Intrepid

A car amplifier provides a boost to the signal coming from the vehicle's stereo. Augmenting the stereo signal with an amplifier means providing volume and clarity to any stereo sound system. When installing an aftermarket car amplifier, you will need to use the supplies included in an amplifier wiring kit. Amplifier wiring kits are equipped with power supply cables, signal and turn-on lead cables, and grounding wires. The purpose of the grounding wires is to connect from the amplifier to a bolt or screw in the vehicle that is directly connected to the frame of the vehicle. Grounding the amplifier in a 1997 Dodge Intrepid is a simple step and an essential procedure for ensuring proper function of the amplifier.

Instructions

For Trunk Mounted Amplifiers

1. Connect the grounding cable from the amplifier wiring kit to the ground on the amplifier.

2. Twist the spare tire compartment cover handle, counterclockwise, to open the spare tire compartment.

3. Route the grounding wire to one of the two bolts near the top of the compartment.

4. Unscrew the bolts with a 15mm wrench, allowing just enough space for the grounding wire. Place the grounding wire between the bolt on the surface of the compartment and tighten the bolt with the wrench.

For Amplifiers Mounted Beneath the Seat

5. Connect the grounding wire from the amplifier wiring kit to the amplifier.

6. Loosen one of the bolts on the seat adjustment tracks for the front seats with a 13mm wrench.

7. Place the grounding cable between the bolt and seat track and tighten the bolt with the wrench.
