Download From A Camera To A Computer & Store

Downloading pictures to a computer lets you view them on a larger scale.

Pictures are worth much more than 1,000 words in today's digital age, as you can savor even the vaguest memory by downloading digital camera pictures to your computer for safekeeping. You can transfer and import pictures directly from the camera to create a digital copy of the picture on your computer. This method usually requires a USB syncing cable, which comes prepackaged with almost every digital camera. Picture transfer only take about a minute to complete.

Instructions

Downloading From a Camera via USB Connection

1. Connect the camera to the computer with a USB cable.

2. Power on the digital camera. The computer should detect the digital camera within 15 to 30 seconds. An AutoPlay pop-up window will appear on the computer screen upon the detection of the camera's connection to the computer. (See Tips Section if the AutoPlay box does not open.)

3. Click "Import Pictures" in the AutoPlay window. Then the "Import Pictures and Videos" box will open so you can tag the camera's pictures to create a separate folder for them to be stored on the computer.

4. Type a new name in the data field below the "Tag These Pictures" section of the Import Pictures and Videos box to create a name for the imported pictures' newly created folder.

5. Click the "Import" or "Import Using Windows" action to lock in the folder name and import the pictures from the digital camera to the computer. All of the imported pictures will be stored to the created folder on the computer's hard drive.

Downloading From a Camera's Memory Card to a Computer

6. Remove the MicroSD memory card from the digital camera. Place the MicroSD memory card into a PCMCIA card-reading adapter.

7. Insert the PCMCIA card-reading adapter into the computer's PCMCIA slot on the computer. Allow the computer to detect the memory card's connection so you can download your pictures to the computer's hard drive.

8. Click "Import Pictures" when the digital camera's AutoPlay box appears. (See Tips if the AutoPlay box does not appear.)

9. Tag the camera's imported pictures by typing a folder name in the "Import Pictures and Videos" box to create a new folder for the pictures.

10. Click "Import" to begin the downloading process. Once all of the pictures have been downloaded from the memory card, the new folder will open in a pop-up window displaying all of the pictures that have been stored to the computer.
