Connect An Hd Camcorder To A Tv

Connecting an HD camcorder to a TV for viewing requires the proper cable to suit your equipment. Although any high definition camcorder can be connected to any television, an HDTV is required for HD viewing. Most camcorders are supplied with a standard composite video cable for TV connection, but the image may appear in standard definition regardless of the television or camcorder. For highest quality digital HD enjoyment, an HD television and an High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable for camcorder connection will be needed.

Instructions

Standard

1. Turn both the television and camcorder off. This is not always necessary, but some camcorder and television manufacturers recommend it. Consult the owner's manual or manufacturer's web site for specifics.

2. Plug the single plug-end of the composite video cable into the camera's A/V jack. On many camcorders, this plug is a standard 1/8-inch, but yours may differ and be a proprietary plug used by some camcorder companies. At the other end of the cable, three RCA-type plugs will remain: red and white for stereo audio and yellow for the video signal.

3. Plug the red and white RCA plugs into the television's left and right audio input jacks, followed by the yellow into the TV's video input.
