Retrieve Messages From a Cell Phone Remotely
Cell phones have become increasingly popular due to cheap phones and rate plans. Cell phones generally come with free long distance and voice mail and often include the ability to send and receive text messages or emails. If your cell phone battery dies, or you misplace your cell phone you can feel cut off from the world. However, there is a way to dial into your cellular voice mail and check your voice mail messages remotely.
Instructions
1. Find a phone to dial your cell phone number. This can be a land line or another person's cell phone; either will work.
2. Dial your cellular phone number. Wait for your voice mail greeting to pick up.
3. Press the star key (*) or pound key (#), depending on your particular carrier, when you hear you your voice mail greeting. Once you press the star key (*) or pound key (#) you will be prompted to enter your password, or passcode. Do not wait until your voicemail greeting is over; once you hear the "sound of the tone", the ability to access your voicemail is denied. If you accidentally wait too long, end the call and dial your cell phone number again.
4. Enter your passcode, followed by the pound key (#). This passcode is usually a four-digit "pin number" to access voicemail, although some voicemail systems may have six to eight-digit codes. You may or may not be required to use your passcode when checking voice mail from your cell phone, but it must be entered to check voice mail remotely.
5. Listen to your messages once you have accessed your voice mail system. You may also use the corresponding number keys to preform all voicemail tasks, such as deleting, forwarding or saving messages, according to AT&T Wireless.
