Magellan Roadmate 1200 Tricks & Tips

The Magellan Roadmate is an affordable, pocket-sized GPS system. It features a 3.5-inch color touch screen and 1.3 million points of interest (gas stations, restaurants and other landmarks). It is important to be aware of a few important features and functions in this system.

Adding Addresses

Take advantage of the Roadmate's ability to store 100 personal addresses. The easiest way to add an address is by saving a previous destination. Simply tap the "Enter Address" icon from the main menu, tap on the "My Addresses" icon, tap "Previous Destinations," and then you are able to edit any fields and save this address into your address book. Note that you are also able to store this address as a favorite.

Trip Planner

The trip planner function on the Roadmate allows you to create a route with multiple addresses, which will come in handy on road trips and errands with multiple stops for which you need directions. The trip planner icon is on page 2 of the main menu. Simply select "New" from the trip planner menu, enter a name, and from there you are able to add addresses, POIs, intersections and places from your address book into the created trip. Also, don't worry about adding the addresses in order, you'll be able to optimize the list from the edit function within the name of the trip you have created.

Exit POIs

Perhaps the most advanced and powerful function on the Roadmate is the ability to access POIs such as hotels, gas stations and restaurants near upcoming freeway exits. To access this feature, tap menu from the map screen and then click on the "Exit POIs" icon. Once selected, you can tap on the appropriate POI icon for the exit required and a list of POIs for the selected category will appear. Simply tap on the POI wanted and then "Route Method," and then tap on the orange "Calculating Route" button.
