Change A Palm Treo 680 Antenna

The Palm Treo 680 device is the first Treo to have an internal antenna. Previous versions have a thick, stubby antenna appendage at the top of the device. The antenna of the Palm Treo 680 helps it locate signals as well as send and receive data. If you suspect that your antenna is faulty, replace it with a Palm Treo 680 compatible antenna. Replacing the antenna does not require any technical skills.

Instructions

1. Press the "Power" button on the Palm Treo 680's keyboard to power the device down. Lay the device on a leveled surface on its face side.

2. Press your thumb on the lower half of the device's back cover, and slide the black cover off the device. Remove the battery from the device, and sit it to the side.

3. Remove the antenna's rubber plug cover using a precision pen. Remove the screw from the antenna slot with the Phillips screwdriver. Slide the antenna out of the antenna slot.

4. Place the new antenna in the slot, and replace the antenna screw. Tighten the screw with the phillips screwdriver. Replace the antenna rubber plug cover.

5. Replace the battery into the battery's housing, and slide the back cover onto the device. Press the "Power" button to turn the device on.
