The digital camera has revolutionized the way we process photos.
For years the practice of developing photos has been a lengthy process that required either expertise in developing procedures or a bit of money and a lot of time to wait. Now, with digital cameras, the wait is over. You get your photos instantly, almost as soon as you have taken them. Being able to upload photos directly from your camera to your computer saves time and money, and gives you control over your own photos, as you would if you had years of film-development expertise.
Instructions
On an Apple Computer
1. Check your camera's manual to make sure you do not need any special software. Some cameras require specialized software to be able to connect to a computer.
2. Connect one end of the USB cable to the camera and the other end to an open USB port on your computer.
3. Switch your camera on. Refer to your camera's manual for any settings requirements for your camera to be able to transfer to the computer.
4. Open your preferred photo software; iPhoto may open automatically. If iPhoto is your software of choice, click "Use iPhoto." If not, choose "Cancel" and navigate to your software of choice. You may also click on the camera icon on your desktop, or the folder with your camera's name, and drag all of the photos in that folder into a folder on your computer.
On a Windows Computer
5. Connect one end of the USB cable to the camera and the other end to an open USB port on your computer.
6. Click on "Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard." A program will open showing all of the photos on your camera.
7. Click "Clear all." Click the check box next to the photos that you wish to upload. By default all of the photos will be checked. Click "Clear all" to uncheck all boxes, and "Select all" to check all boxes.
8. Click "Next." The next page will be the "Picture Name and Destination" page.
9. Type a name for your group of photos. This will differentiate this dump of photos from all others from this camera. Click "Next" until you come to the final page for the "Picture Wizard." Click "Finish."
