My Pc Won'T Recognize My Treo 600

The Treo 600 is just one of many members of the Treo smartphone family. A main feature is its syncing capabilities with a computer, so having a device that cannot be recognized by your PC can be a big problem. Some common issues to troubleshoot include problems with the USB cord and outdated software.

USB Cord

Check to see the Treo 600 is plugged in all the way. Look in "My Computer" or the "Ports" heading in your computer's Device Manager to ensure the Treo is listed. If not, make sure the USB cable is not frayed or broken, then check both ends to make sure that no prongs are bent or missing. Plug the cord into another USB port to see if it is detected.

USB Ports

The computer may not be able to recognize your Treo because of a USB malfunction. Look under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in the Device Manager. Find "PCI," then right-click and click "Uninstall." In the Action menu, select "Scan for Hardware Changes" to reinstall the driver.

Reinstall Software

The driver software used to sync the Treo 600 with your computer may be having problems. In the computer's Control Panel, go to "Uninstall a Program" and uninstall the Palm Desktop software. Reinstall this software from the CD that came in the box with the Treo, or download it from the Internet. This will reinstall the necessary drivers to sync the phone.
