With a Slingbox, you will be able to access TV through your computer.
UK Play stopped transmitting in 2002, when much of its material was subsumed by the UK Gold network. UK Play showed U.S. shows such as "The Larry Sanders" show, as well as shows from the United Kingdom, such as "RE:Brand," and "Rock Profile." Many of these shows are still available through G.O.L.D., a U.K. satellite network. By installing Slingbox into a U.K. home, you will be able to access shows from the former UK Play TV service in the United States.
Instructions
1. Purchase a Slingbox from the company's website. As of October 2010, prices for these boxes range from $179.99 to $299.99 depending on specifications. If you wish to only watch former UK Play shows, then a $179.99 model will suffice.
2. Install the Slingbox in a home in the U.K. Whether this is your home, before you travel to the United States, or the home of a relative or friend, as long as they consent to this and hold a television license, then this is a permitted activity.
3. Register for a Slingbox account (see Resources). The site will guide you through set up of the Slingbox if you have any problems.
4. Watch UK TV on your computer by accessing your slingbox account. All of the shows that were formerly on UK Play that are now available on G.O.L.D. can be viewed through your television, wherever you are in the world.
