The Sony Mavica camera pioneered digital photography, and used some of the best media available at the time for storing the photographs they took -- blank, writeable CD-R discs. This made digital photography simpler for many users -- when they were done, they simply took the disc out of the camera and inserted it into their computer to look at the pictures. If you have a Mavica camera, follow these steps to replace the CD-R in your camera.
Instructions
1. Turn off the Sony Mavica camera. Undo the locking tab on the side of the camera and open the disc cover door. Remove the disc, if there is one in the camera.
2. Place the new disc into the Mavica camera, with the printed side up (facing outward). Push it down upon the spindle until the disc clicks into place. Be careful not to touch the pickup lens for the disc.
3. Initialize the disc. The disc cannot be written upon until you've completed initialization. On the top of the camera there will be a mode wheel. Turn it to the blue camera icon. and turn on the power to the camera.
4. Examine the LCD screen of the Mavica camera. A message reading "Initialize Place on Level Surface" will appear. Set the camera on a level surface and do not touch it, or allow the camera to be shaken while the initialization occurs.
5. When the message "Initialize Complete" appears on the LCD screen, the CD-R has been loaded and the Mavica camera is ready for you to take pictures with.
