Nikon 440 Range Finder Specs

The Nikon 440 Range Finder allows you to locate and target object accurately. Created for sports and leisure activities, it has a waterproof design that uses an invisible, infrared laser to locate targets. The Nikon 440 range finder is compact and lightweight, ideal for sporting and leisure activities.

Optical System

The Nikon 440 uses a roof-prism monocular that is capable of 8x magnification. The optical system has a 6.3-degree angular field of view with a diopter adjustment function of a plus or minus 30 feet. The optical system is capable of finding objects up to 437 yards away. The optical system also uses an LCD system to display the reticle and the meters/yards mode and has precision and battery indicators.

Laser

The Nikon 440 uses an invisible laser that reflects off a target and back to the optical receiver. The laser is an infrared, eye-safe laser categorized as FDA class I. The laser has an 890 nanometer wavelength with a pulse duration of 13 nanoseconds. The device is best suited for nighttime usage and in cloudy conditions because the light emitted from the stars can weaken the laser beam.
