Digital keychains are the new technologically advanced versions of the old brag books. Commonly given as gifts for new parents and grandparents, it gives the chance to proudly display even the most recent photos of their nearest and dearest to anyone who will take a moment to look. Perhaps its greatest draws are the utility and mobility of a keychain combined with the ease of downloading your newest pictures, especially in comparison to traditional print photos.
Instructions
1. Open the folder in your computer containing the pictures you wish to put on the keychain and check the files to make sure they are in a format that is compatible to the digital keychain. The can be found in the file name of the photos as a suffix starting with a period. Some brands of digital keychains only accept JPEGs, while other will accept GIF, PNG or TIF formats. Check your owners manual for the correct format needed.
2. Connect the USB cord to the digital keychain and plug in the USB to the computer. Wait a moment for the computer to recognize the keychain and pop up with a "New Device is Connected" window.
3. Copy the photos onto the digital keychain's hard drive. Note that some keychains require you install a driver, typically given on a CD with purchase, so that your computer will automatically connect and transfer photos from a specific file. Some keychains, however, simply require you to copy the desired files and paste or drop them into the folder representing your keychain's drive.
4. Double-click the icon in your system tray that looks like a plug, which will display "Safely Remove Hardware" when you hover on it. Select the drive your digital keychain is on and choose "Remove Hardware." After a moment, a pop up will declare that "It is now safe to remove your hardware." Unplug the USB from your computer and the cord from the digital keychain.
