Set A High Speed Shutter On A Canon Power Shot Sx10 Is

Sports photography requires the use of a fast shutter speed.

Photographing fast-paced action such as a soccer game or a running animal requires you to set the camera to a high shutter speed. This is difficult or impossible to do on many cameras, but Canon designed the PowerShot SX10 IS with shutter speed in mind. Learn set a high-speed shutter on your SX10, so you never miss an action shot again.

Instructions

1. Remove the lens cap.

Turn the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS on, and remove the lens cap. Set the camera to manual mode by turning the main dial to the "M" position.

2. Rotate the control dial to the right to set a high shutter speed, which leaves the camera's shutter open for a very short period of time. The dial is on the back of the camera to the right of the LCD screen. A good high-speed shutter is usually 1/500 of a second or shorter.

3. Press the "+/-" button, and turn the same dial to the left to decrease the aperture. The button is the second-to-last control on the far right edge of the device. The LCD light meter will indicate when a correct exposure has been set.
