The General Electric Company produces a variety of both large and small home appliances, from refrigerators and ovens to water filters and answering machines. GE answering machines come in several different formats, including digital and electric models, and with options such as caller ID and remote activation. Utilizing the remote activation option to turn on the answering machine is relatively simple and can be done from almost any phone, including cell phones and most cordless phones.
Instructions
1. Call your home telephone number. Wait for the answering machine to pick up, which will occur after 10 rings if the GE answering machine is currently turned off.
2. Wait for your answering machine greeting and enter your three-digit security code after the beep that follows the greeting. A beep will be sounded and the answering machine will begin to play the remote function menu.
3. Press the number "2" to turn on the answering machine.
4. Hang up the phone.
