Rear-projection TVs were one of the first HDTVs on the market. Even though they are being phased out for flat panels, rear-projection TVs still offer great performance for a cheap price. Though they are bulky, their image is just as good as most LCDs or plasmas. However, they can develop glitches and need to have their digital arrays reset to fix the picture. If the reset does not work, there may be more series problems with your RCA rear-projection TV.
Instructions
1. Turn the rear-projection TV off by pressing the power button on the remote or the front bezel. This does not actually turn the TV off, just places it in hibernation. The TV continues to sip power to keep the memory circuits in the digital array alive.
2. Unplug all the cables from the rear-projection TV. Start with the power cable and then unplug the audio and video cables. Even audio and video cables can pass along enough current to keep the digital array from resetting.
3. Let the TV sit unplugged for five minutes. This clears out any residual charge in the capacitors that could be keeping some memory chips active.
4. Plug all the cables back in and turn the rear-projection TV back on. The digital array will now be returned to factory default.
