Replace Jvc Speaker Wire Mxgt80

The MXGT80 is a portable shelf system.


The MXGT80 is a powerful shelf audio system offered by JVC. Replacing the speaker wire is not that difficult but does require the installer to pay attention. Each speaker has two wires connecting to it; each of these wires is a stereo speaker wire (that is really two wires in one), and at the end of each of these cables are two individual wires. Ordinary 18-gauge speaker wire will be adequate as this has two wires built in (positive and negative).


Instructions


1. Purchase speaker wire. Standard 18-gauge stereo wire should closely match the original gauge wire of the system. Four strips of wire will be necessary. The user can select the length, at a minimum each wire will need to be three feet. However, if the speakers are placed farther from the main unit then the wires should be longer.








2. Remove the old wires. Disconnect the wires from the speaker and the main unit by pressing down on the speaker wire terminals; this will open them and the wire can easily be pulled out. Each speaker will have a red and black wire (joined together) and a blue and black (joined together) wire. Remember which wire was connected to what terminal.


3. Connect two stereo wires to each speaker. Remember which terminals the new speaker wire is connected to; which terminal was red/black and which was blue and black. Remember which cable is in what old terminal. For example, one of the cables will be now be red and one will be black (associated with red.)


4. Connect the speaker wires to the main unit. Using the new cables insert each end of the wire into the appropriate terminal on the main unit. Remember the appropriate terminals from step 1 and connect the newly labeled wires to the right terminals.

Build A Video Camera Stabilizer

If you are an aspiring cameraman or -woman, you know how difficult it can be to get stable shots without the use of a tripod. However, lugging around a huge tripod can be a pain, and waiting to shoot until you have set it up can cause you to miss great shots. There is a simple and effective hand stabilizer that you can make in around an hour that will enable you to shoot stable shots without the hassle of using a tripod. All you need are a few items from around the house and some metal pieces.


Instructions


1. Cut all metal pieces to the right lengths. Wear protective eyewear when completing this step. Drill a ¼-inch hole one inch away from each end of the flat aluminum pieces. You should have two holes on each piece of metal.


2. Drill two holes in the middle of one of the pieces of aluminum to the size that matches the tripod mounting hole on your camera. Drill a hole in the middle of the other piece of metal to use as a mount of a microphone later. Each piece of metal will now have three holes. Glue one bolt inside one of the holes to easily find where to mount the camera.


3. Cut 4 small pieces of broom handle to three inches each. Drill a hole down the middle of each piece, large enough for the threaded rod to fit through. Fit the pieces of wood into the ends of each pipe.








4. Screw the threaded rod to each side of one of the flat metal pieces. Slide the bicycle grips over the pipe with the wooden pieces inside. Slide the pipe over the threaded metal. Now you will repeat this step on the pipes for the opposite side.


5. Take the other piece of flat metal and screw one nut and bolt to each side of the other piece of threaded metal. You should now have a rectangle with the two bicycle grips making up the short sides, and the metal making up the longer sides.


6. Screw a microphone or light bracket to the top of the metal siding. You can use this to make even more professional looking videos.








7. Attach the camera to the inside of the video stabilizer using the tripod screw holes on the bottom of the camera. Hold the sides of the stabilizer where the bicycle grips are. Use the stabilizer to shoot stable and professional looking shots. You are finished making your own video camera stabilizer.

Instructions


1. Cut two lengths of speaker wire. The first should be long enough to reach from the amplifier to the first subwoofer, and the second long enough to reach from the first subwoofer to the second.


2. Strip the insulation off of the ends of the lengths of wire, so that 1/2 inch of bare wire is visible on each lead.


3. Connect one end of the first length of wire to the speaker output terminals of the amplifier. These are usually set-screw connections -- loosen the screw, slip the bare wire underneath and tighten down. Connect the positive lead of the speaker wire to the positive terminal, and the negative to the negative.


4. Connect the other end of this piece of speaker wire to the terminals of the subwoofer. Then connect the second piece of speaker wire to the same set of terminals. Tighten down the terminals so that both pieces of wire are securely fastened.


5. Connect the other end of the second piece of speaker wire to the second subwoofer's terminals. Tighten down the terminals so that the wire is securely fastened.

Configure A Graphic Equalizer

Configuring a graphic equalizer to your personal taste can really enhance the enjoyment of listening to your favorite music. 7. Make a simple diagram on an index card of where your sliders are set and then return all sliders to 0dB. This is to see how you like the sound you set in comparison to no added equalization. Everything we hear is referential and this step helps our ears to not play tricks on us.


8. Repeat these steps for any different types of music you like to listen to, making a simple diagram for each on an index card to be kept someplace accessible.

6. Inspect the photos for chromatic aberration, which is the slight separation of colors. This most often occurs along the edges and is caused by light of different wavelengths following slightly different paths through the lens.


7. Inspect the photos for distortion, which is a slight round warping. This is most often seen with straight edges, such as tile. If present, the straight lines will appear slightly bowed instead of parallel.

The Nikon EN-EL3e is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery to use with digital SLR cameras that Japanese optics/imaging products company Nikon Corporation manufactures. The battery comes with a 30-day limited warranty, and is available for purchase at several retail stores.


Main Features


The Nikon EN-EL3e has a power capacity of 7.4 volts and 1500 mAh. The battery can be charged using a Nikon's MH-18a or MH-18 Quick Charger, or a MH-19 Multi-Charger.


Compatibility

Most smartphones, including the Samsung Vibrant, come with a feature that animates the interchanging, opening and closing of application windows as they fill the devices' display screens. Scrape A Photo Negative For Art

You can create art by scraping photo negatives, but the effects will be permanent.








Practically since true photography was invented in the early 1800s, people have been manipulating images to create art. For example, although sepia toning was done to help photographs keep from fading, the reddish-brown tint became an art form in itself. When Polaroid invented the SX-70 style develop-before-your-eyes film in the 1970s, artistic types realized they could manipulate the still liquid chemicals with a pen cap and create something more than just the snapshot. You can change negatives to create artworks, too, with a little patience and finesse.


Instructions


1. Clean your negatives thoroughly before you start scraping. Dust and particles can get in the way of your art work and cause mistakes. Use lens tissue or a lint-free cloth to carefully and gently clean your negative.








2. Place the negative with the emulsion side up on a light table or light box. The emulsion side is less shiny than the other side. Make sure your light table or light box has a glass surface. If it is plastic, you will damage it by cutting into it.


3. Use the hobby knife to start working where you want to alter the image. Remember that the dark parts of the negative will be the light parts of the print. So when you start scraping into the emulsion, remember not to go too deep or you will lose all detail. Take special care with people's faces.


4. Work delicately with your hobby knife under the magnifier. Take your time. Once you make a scrape, it will be hard to fix it if it is not what you wanted the image to look like.

Tips On Using A Canon Teleconverter On An S5 Is

Before you attach an external lens to the Canon S5 IS, take the opportunity to clean the lens.


The Canon S5 IS was released in May 2007. The eight-megapixel compact digital camera has 12x optical zoom, providing an equivalent focal length of 36mm to 432mm. Available for the camera is the Canon TC-DC58B external Teleconverter lens that will further extend the telephoto capabilities of the lens by 1.5x. The lens attaches to the camera directly.


Tripod








Attach the Canon S5 IS digital camera to a tripod whenever you use the 1.5x teleconverter lens. While the camera has a built-in image-stabilization feature, when the telephoto lens is extended to a long focal length any camera shake becomes very noticeable in the pictures you take. A tripod is a great tool to minimize camera shake, especially when you are taking landscape photos.


Sports and Wildlife


Turn the camera to shutter priority by turning the exposure selection dial to "Tv," and set the shutter speed to 1/250 second when you are using the teleconverter to shoot sports or wildlife. Make sure the Image Stabilization program is turned on. The shutter speed of 1/250 second is usually fast enough to capture most sports, and will minimize visible camera shake.

Set the camera to aperture priority for portrait photography: Turn the exposure selection dial on the top of the camera to "Av," and set the aperture to the a middle aperture setting of f5.6 or f8.0. A mid-range telephoto setting is ideal for portrait photography and the teleconverter will give you a wider telephoto range.

What Are Nikon Dx Lenses

Nikon makes over 200 different types of optical glass for its extensive line of lenses. Nikon uses this glass to manufacture its DX and non-DX camera lenses. Nikon designed its DX lens line to meet the needs of consumers using the company's smaller format line of cameras. DX lenses offer you Nikon quality at a price comparable to third-party lens manufacturers.


DX vs. FX


Nikon makes two digital SLR camera sensor sizes -- DX and FX. FX sensors represent a sensor size equivalent to a frame of 35 mm film, or 36 mm by 24 mm in size. The DX sensor measures only 24 mm by 16 mm in size. This smaller sensor utilizes only a portion of the field of view of a lens designed to fit on an FX sensor camera body. Nikon has designed a family of lenses to specifically fit the smaller frame, DX camera bodies. These lenses have a "DX" designation on the lens body and also in the naming convention of the lens, such as the AF-S DX Nikkor 35 mm f/1.8G.








Why DX Lenses?


Because Nikon has designed the DX lens line to work specifically with the company's DX camera bodies, the lenses are lighter weight and less expensive than lenses made for full-frame FX bodies. Lenses designed for Nikon full-frame bodies typically cost a premium over DX lenses because of the additional manufacturing cost associated with their production. Additionally, DX body cameras like the Nikon D90, D3100 and D5000 can also accommodate full-frame non-DX lenses. Although some functionality may get lost during use -- auto-focus and some metering modes -- the ability to use non-DX lenses opens up the available lens options for DX camera owners.


The Crop Factor


Because DX camera bodies have smaller sensors than a standard frame of 35 mm film, any lens used on a DX body must have a crop factor applied to its focal length. In essence, any lens used on a DX camera, including DX and non-DX lenses, must have the focal length multiplied by a factor of 1.5X. The crop factor approximates the focal length of the lens as if it were used on a 35 mm full-frame FX body camera. For instance, a 100 mm lens on an FX body has a field of view that reflects its focal length of 100 mms. Put the same lens on a DX body and the field of view no longer resembles a 100 mm lens but a 150 mm lens. That's because on the DX body the focal length, 100 mm, is multiplied by a factor of 1.5, making the 100 mm lens view like a 150 mm lens.








Considerations


DX lenses certainly have a few factors in their favor -- less cost and less weight being the two biggest. However, DX lenses don't come in as many different varieties and specialties as non-DX lenses. For example, an architectural photographer typically requires lenses that have tilt/shift or perspective control movements. These movements aren't available in DX lenses. Also, as of early 2011 Nikon doesn't make any super-telephoto lenses in the DX format.

7. Plug the other end of the AC power adapter into the MiniDisc player jack on the bottom.








8. Set the recording source to play and then push pause. This step makes certain that the beginning of the source will be on the MiniDisc.


9. Hold the "Rec.T Mark" button down on the MiniDisc and press the right arrow key. Release both buttons.








10. Set the recording source to play by releasing the pause button.


11. Press the square button on the MiniDisc to stop recording from the source.

1. Search for dictation or voice recorders. The top business iPhone app, included in most top 10 lists is Dragon Dictation. There are more apps like this including the iTalk Recorder at #11 most downloaded, which record and store the sound file for later access through the apps.

Troubleshoot An Ipod 3g

The "3G" in "iPod 3G" stands for "third generation." It was the third model in a series of seven (as of April 2010) in Apple's iPod line of consumer electronics. The iPod 3G had an LED screen and a click wheel which has long since been replaced by an LCD screen on newer units that can play videos. If you're having any kind of problem with your 3G iPod, you can quickly get to the root of the problem and figure out what is causing it by trying just a few simple things.


Instructions


1. Connect your iPod 3G to your computer. Certain problems that happen as a result of content incorrectly synced to your iPod can be fixed by simply connecting the device to your computer and syncing it again in iTunes. Once your iPod 3G is connected, open iTunes and click on the "Sync" button to see if that doesn't fix the problem.


2. Restart your iPod 3G. To do this, press and hold the "Play" button on your iPod 3G's control panel. While doing this, simultaneously press and hold the "Select" button until the Apple logo appears. The iPod 3G will shut off soon thereafter. Press and hold these two buttons to turn your iPod 3G back on and see if that doesn't fix the problem you were experiencing.


3. Restore your iPod 3G. This is a kind of "nuclear option," and is similar to reformatting your computer's hard drive and restoring your operating system. Any problems that are a result of a faulty file in the iPod 3G's operating system will be fixed by performing this method. To do this, connect your iPod 3G to your computer and open iTunes. Instead of clicking the "Sync" button as you normally do, instead click "Restore." All of the data will be erased from your iPod 3G and the operating system will be restored. You can then click "Sync" to re-sync all of your content back to your iPod 3G.

Movie theaters typically show only new movies. When an especially popular movie comes out, people clamor to see it right away if they don't want to wait for the TV showing or DVD release. However, the privilege of seeing a movie right away is costly. Movie tickets often cost well over $10, and you must contend with huge crowds and long lines. The cost and crowded circumstances may diminish your pleasure of seeing a new movie.

Nikon Speedlight 800 Tips

The Nikon SB-800 was Nikon's premier flash from 2003 to 2008. It was replaced by the SB-900. The SB-800 offered wireless control of other flashes, a built-in bounce card, an attachable diffusion dome and faster recycling times with the addition of the fifth battery pack.








Softening the Light








Using a flash head on can result in harsh glare and shadows instead of an even light. There are three things you can do with the SB-800 to soften the light for more natural looking shots. First, angle the flash head up and bounce the light of the ceiling; try positioning it at a 60-degree angle. If this doesn't soften the light enough, position the head at 90 degrees and use the built-in bounce card. Finally, the best solution is to use the diffusion dome in connection with positioning the head at a 60-degree angle.


Modeling Illuminator


Use the modeling illuminator function to check that you have the correct exposure value on the camera, and check that the you don't have any harsh shadows cast by the SB-800 as you frame your shot. The Modeling illuminator button is on the left side of the flash head. Push the button and the flash will fire at a reduced output for approximately three seconds.


Wireless


By using multiple speedlights, a photographer can mimic advanced studio lighting systems. The SB-800 can be set as either a master flash or a slave flash by pressing the Mode button and entering the Custom settings menu. As a slave flash with a compatible Nikon camera (most D-SLRs), the SB-800 can be positioned off the camera on the included stand and triggered from the on-camera flash, creating better fill lighting in tricky shadow conditions. In Master mode, the SB-800 can trigger an infinite number of slaved Nikon speedlights for a wide array of lighting conditions.

Disassemble A Binocular Lens







Disassemble one lens fully before you begin disassembling the other.


Disassembling a pair of binoculars is a laborious process that requires patience and attention to detail. If you have an expensive or a new pair of binoculars, check with the manufacturer before tinkering with the unit. Only attempt to disassemble an old, damaged or inexpensive pair of binocular lenses. You'll need plenty of time and work space before you start the procedure. As you disassemble the binoculars, label every part, in case you want to reassemble the piece. The binoculars contains two (left and right) scopes, also referred as objective lenses.


Instructions


1. Turn and remove the protective ring on the lens or the cap on the front end lens of the binoculars. There will be one cap wrapping each lens. If you find it hard to loosen the cap by hand, use a strap wrench. Do not use a crescent wrench or pliers, as this will badly scratch and possibly damage the rings.


2. Unscrew the retaining lens with a spanner wrench. Once you remove the outermost cap, you will find a retaining ring gloving the objective lens.


3. Loosen the eccentric ring with a jeweler's straight slot screw driver that is no larger than 1.5 mm. The eccentric objective ring has one slot and is notched up inside the objective cell. It controls the movement of the objective lens. Twisting off the eccentric ring should free the objective cell, which is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in length, depending on the binoculars, so you can remove it as well.


4. Twist off the objective bell housing with one hand, holding the objective cell firmly in the other hand. You can also set the objective bell house free using a strap wrench.


5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 to disassemble the other scope.

Connect An Hdtv Converter To Pc Monitor

With LCD monitors getting bigger and cheaper, using one as both a computer monitor and television is a good space and money saver. LCD monitors can display television at HD resolutions, specifically 1080p (1920x1080) and 720p (1440x720) and display media on PCs at resolutions even higher than that. You can use the HDTV converter box leased from your cable or satellite company or you can use an HDTV converter from a third party provider, like Tivo.

1. Determine which interface your HDTV converter box uses. A DVI output will be a white, female connector containing several pinhole connections. An HDMI output will be a single female connector, similar to a USB port.


2. Determine which interface your LCD monitor uses. If it uses both HDMI and DVI, HDMI is always a better choice, as it streamlines the video connection and carries an audio signal as well. It is also HDCP ( a form of digital copyright protection) compliant.

3. Gather all the tools you'll need to complete the installation and set them out where you can reach them easily. Your instruction manual should list all required tools.


4. Call a friend or relative to help you mount the television. You'll find it much easier to mount your HDTV to the wall with a little help and an additional set of hands.


5. Pick the ideal location to mount your HDTV before you get started. The best place to mount an HDTV is where it is easily viewable from multiple angles and where direct sunlight will not fall across the screen. Make A Dual Sub Box

If you like big bass, it's hard to argue with the proposition that two subs are better than one. Once you've decided to add two subs to your car, you may decide to build your own box. There are some good reasons why: You can decide to build a box that fits your car's dimensions, or you may just like a hands-on approach to system building. Whatever the reason, building your own dual sub box doesn't have to be hard. With a little planning and some basic carpentry, you'll soon have a box you can be proud of.


Instructions


1. Decide on the size and dimensions of your dual sub box. Your subwoofers need a certain amount of air volume in the box to work properly. This information can be found in your subwoofer's manual, or on the manufacturer's website, where the volume will be expressed in cubic feet. Sketch out some designs for your box, then multiply the length, width and height by each other, in inches. Divide that figure by 1,728, and you'll have the volume of your planned box in cubic feet. Adjust the dimensions of your design until it matches the specs of the subwoofers.


2. Once you have your design, cut out the front, rear, top and bottom of your box from 3/4-inch MDF (medium density fiberboard). Use a circular or table saw so you get clean, straight cuts. Cut openings in the front panel for your subs, using a jigsaw, and test to be sure the subs fit properly. Now put these pieces together, using wood glue and wood screws.


3. Cut end pieces for the box. These should be large enough to completely cover the ends. In each end piece, cut an opening for a terminal cup. Attach the end pieces to the box with wood glue and wood screws. When the glue is dry, seal all of the seams with silicone sealant so the box is air-tight.


4. Cover the box with box carpet, securing the carpet with a hot glue gun. This is optional, but your box will look much more professional if you take this simple step.


5. Wire a separate piece of speaker wire to each of the inside terminals of the terminal cups. Now mount the terminal cups into their holes with wood screws. Attach the other end of each piece of speaker wire to the terminals of the subwoofers. Mount the subwoofers into their mounting holes using wood screws.

Build A Movie Set

Movies are huge extravagant productions that require the efforts of tons of people to make possible. One of the biggest elements of what makes a movie realistic is the set and background. Without a set a movie is nothing more than people standing in front of a camera acting out a scene. Movie sets are vitally important.


Instructions


1. Read the script. Break it down into scenes or obtain the broken down script from the production coordinator or production manager. Circle or highlight any specific references to the background and set. You're looking for specific mentions of color, material types, sizes, props and relative distance from one place or object to another.


2. Meet with the director. Get the director's notes on elements he/she would like to see or does not want to see. Ask about the specific items you came across in the script. Make sure he/she wants these or how important they are. Get a budget sheet from him/her that lists what your budget is for either the entire film or a specific area used for different scenes.


3. Draw out your design. Create one large sketch which encompasses everything as well as several supporting designs of specific elements or segments of the set as a whole. Sketch in pencil first then fill in with full color. Present these sketches to the director and supervising producers for approval. If they want changes make the changes then submit the sketches and ask for a signature of approval.


4. Break down your budget. So some comparison shopping to find the best deals and figure out where it is okay to spend more money for quality and where you need to cut back. Purchase all your materials. Begin constructing the items that require the most time to make so you are sure to finish them in time and don't have any problems. Do all the construction elements first. Research architectural elements if necessary to keep up the appearance of a specific time era or location.


5. Paint and decorate all the constructed sets. Take photos of each set piece and send them or take them to the director and supervising producers. Put all the elements together on the sound stage or other location. Photograph everything each day before shooting begins as well as during (on breaks) and after. This provides an accurate record of the different looks and makes it easy to reset in the event of re-shoots.

Digital Cameras With Good Lowlight Performance

Interchangeable lens cameras let you choose the best lens for low light.


The digital camera market is constantly changing and evolving, and each year more and more digital cameras enter the market with improvements over previous generations. But not all cameras are created equal --- some types of cameras are much better at shooting in low light. A few factors come into play when dealing with low light. When buying a camera for dim shooting, try to find as many of these features as possible within your price range.








Sensitivity


Light makes photos --- it's as simple as that. In the days of film, cameras used different speeds of film for different light scenarios. Film speed was measured by ISO, and lower ISO numbers meant slower film. In the digital era, ISO is still used to indicate speed, sort of. ISO is now a measure of sensitivity, which is electronically controlled on digital cameras. Cameras multiply and intensify the light in photos at high ISOs (1600 and above), which means you can get a brighter shot in dimmer light. ISO range is a key factor for low-light shooting, but should be considered alongside other camera factors.


Sensor Size








Your camera is only as good as its sensor, and size matters. Most compact digital cameras, or point-and-shoot cameras, have extremely small sensors, especially when compared with four-thirds digitals or digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras. A 6-megapixel sensor that is only a few millimeters wide and a 6-megapixel sensor that is 22 millimeters wide produce incredibly different photos. The pixels are less dense on larger sensors and therefore less sensitive to high-ISO shooting. Shooting at ISO 1600 on a compact point-and-shoot camera in low light creates a lot of digital noise (white flecks of false light across your image); on a larger sensor camera, like a DSLR, high-ISO shooting creates less noise.


Lens


DSLR cameras offer total control over all lens functions, but compact point-and-shoot cameras don't always have manual, shutter or aperture control modes. This means that your shots are only as good as your lens. All lenses have an aperture maximum, which measures how wide the aperture blades open to let in light. Wider apertures equal more light and a shorter exposure, which makes for brighter, clearer shots in low light. Aperture values vary across the market, but look for a camera with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 or lower to get good handheld shots in low light.

Compact digital camera manufacturers often make sacrifices to keep cameras compact and inexpensive. The sensors in these cameras can only get so big due to size constraints. Accessing a computer from a TV simply means that the TV is acting as the monitor for the computer. This is very useful when viewing downloaded movies or other media that can be enjoyed on a larger screen than the monitor.


Instructions


Accessing the Computer Using the TV


1. VGA (blue) and DVI (white)


Connect the VGA or DVI cable to the TV.


The TV may only have either a VGA or a DVI input. The DVI input is preferable because it is a digital connection (VGA is analog) that has a higher-resolution capacity, which means it will be able to deliver a cleaner picture.


2. Connect the other end of the VGA or DVI cable to the computer.


The computer may have both the VGA and DVI ports. If possible, go with the DVI port.


3. 1/4-inch to RCA audio Y-Cable


Connect the audio cable to the RCA ports of the TV.


Make sure to connect into the same input as the VGA or DVI input.


4. Turn on the TV and the computer.


5. Change the input on the TV to the VGA/DVI input used.

Build Your Own Real Time Gps Tracking System

Real-time GPS tracking systems provide live tracking of people and objects for safety, personal interest and asset management. Real-time GPS tracking systems can be expensive to purchase and difficult to install. You can build your own real-time GPS tracking system by simply using a GPS-enabled cell phone and the InstaMapper free GPS-tracking software.

2. In the Device label text box, and enter an identifying name for your phone. Select "Imperial units." Click the "Add" button.








3. In the New Device screen, note the 13-digit device key assigned to your phone. Download and install the GPS Tracker application on your phone, using the link for your phone's make and model.


4. Open the GPS Tracker application on your phone. Enter the 13-digit device key. Click "Save."


5. Log in to InstaMapper to view markers (waypoints) and segments (tracks) sent by your phone to Google Maps. View Time, Altitude, Speed, Heading, Latitude and Longitude.


6. To organize historical data into saved tracks, click "Devices." Click the "Data" link next to the device name. Left-click on the start and end waypoints of your track.


7. To embed a map of your current location on a blog, website or Facebook, click "Devices." Click the "Sharing" link next to the device name. At the Enable Sharing for this Device prompt, click "OK."








8. On the Location Sharing page, select from the options to send a direct URL, install the Facebook application, or use the wizard to generate the HTML code for embedding a map.

Restore Photos Accidentally Deleted From A Card







Undelete photos from memory cards.


Nothing is quite so disheartening than capturing those once-in-a-lifetime family photos only to find they have been deleted from your memory card, never to be recovered. But are they? When files are normally deleted from any storage medium, the spaces they occupied are merely marked for use, but are not actually erased until data is written over the sectors the files occupied. With the right software, these files can easily be recovered.


Instructions


1. Try out Recuva, which specializes in file recovery. You have the options of downloading an installable version or portable version that can be run from a thumb drive. Features include a quick scan, which quickly finds almost all recoverable files, or a deep scan, which is considerably more comprehensive and time-consuming.








2. Check out Active@Undelete, which enables you to find photo files based on their unique signature, which is inherent information in the file used for format identification. The program also allows previewing of files before undeleting them.


3. Try NTFS Undelete. This free, open-source program offers an installable download and CD image, so you can run it straight from CD. Contrary to this program's name, NTFS Undelete does not only work on NTFS, but also FAT32, which is the more common format for memory cards.


4. Check out Glary Undelete, another free recovery program. Glary Undelete supports FAT, NTFS and NTFS+EFS file systems, which makes it very versatile.

Print On Contact Paper

Contact paper is conventionally used to line shelves and provide a layer of protection over a surface. The paper is a thick piece of generally clear plastic that has an adhesive back so it can be applied securely to almost any material. A lesser-known way of using the paper is as a means of making screen-printing designs with a screen frame. You can use contact-paper printing to make designs for fabrics for any type of projects you are doing.








Instructions


1. Draw the design you want to screen directly onto the protective backing of the contact paper with a pencil. Make sure the size of the contact paper is as big as the screen in your printing screen.


2. Cut out the shapes using a craft knife, and discard the waste pieces of contact paper.


3. Peel off the backing paper from the contact paper, and press it down onto the screen. Smooth the contact paper down as you pull the backing away until it's pressed firmly down in place.


4. Set the screen on top of the fabric you want to screen print, and place the screening ink at the top edge of the contact paper. Only use enough ink to cover the screen.


5. Use a squeegee to spread out the ink across the screen. Make two or three passes of the ink across the stencil.








6. Lift the screen slowly off the fabric, and let the ink dry. Set the screen down in the next place on the fabric if you want to repeat the pattern.

The Best Way to Scan Slides


Although many professional photographers have converted to digital cameras due to the advances in technology and digital quality in the last five years, some purists still prefer to shoot with film. These photographers often choose slide film due to the tighter grain structure and sharper detail over regular 35mm film. These slides must then be scanned to convert them to digital form. Photographers can choose between many levels of scanning quality, but experts agree that drum scanners offer the best results.


How Drum Scanning Works


To scan a slide with a drum scanner, place a slide into a drum. The drum rotates the slide while a fixed beam of laser light scans every part of it. A Photo Multiplier Tube (PMT), which is extremely sensitive to light, receives the scanned data. It picks up a much wider range of light than the Charged Couple Devices (CCD) technology used by flatbed scanners, providing a digital image that captures the full range and depth of hues from white to black that are available.


DPI








Drum scanners offer the highest dots per inch (dpi) scanning possible. Higher dpi allows the photographer to create larger prints without a loss of original detail. The most expensive drum scanners offer dpi scanning of 8,000 to 11,000. High end flatbed scanners offer dpi scanning at 5400 and cost about the same as a quality drum scanner.


Cost








If you choose to purchase a drum scanner, expect to pay for the quality. Used drum scanners start at $5,000 (as of January 2010), but this does not include the cost of extra drums, drum mounting stations or software. New drum scanners can range between $16,000 and $70,000. However, drum scanners are made for high volume work. To offset the cost, consider renting it out to other photographers.


Special Considerations


While experts agree that drum scanners provide the highest scanning quality, this does not necessarily mean a drum scanner is your best choice. Invest time into learning the best way to operate your particular drum scanner to achieve the best results. Drum scanners generally can't scan film larger 8 by 10 inches. It's true that CCD based flatbed scanners cannot match the higher dpi that drum scanners offer, but this may not be an issue if you don't plan to produce large prints.

Clean Hp Photosmart C4280 Inkjet Printer Nozzles

Use the printer's software to clean the cartridge nozzles.


The HP Photosmart C4280, like HP's other Photosmart printers, uses ink jet technology to print both in color and black and white. If you notice the printer's print quality has become splotchy or spotty, you should clean the printer's nozzles. These nozzles spray tiny droplets of ink onto pages as they pass through the printer. Sometimes the droplets of ink dry and collect in the nozzles, blocking them partially or completely. HP's Solution Center software will clean the printer's nozzles, freeing them of any dried ink deposits.


Instructions


1. Turn on your HP Photosmart C4280 and the attached computer. Wait for the printer to finish its warm-up procedures.


2. Click on "Start" on the computer's screen, then "All Programs." Find the folder labeled "HP" and click on "HP Solution Center."


3. Select the "Settings" tab in the Solution Center software. Hover the mouse over "Printer Settings" so a drop-down menu appears, then click on "Printer Toolbox" in the list.


4. Select the "Device Services" tab and click on the button labeled "Clean the Print Cartridges." If after one cleaning you are not satisfied with the print quality, click on "Clean Again" until you are pleased with the test page.

Motorola is an American company with headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill. It manufactures and sells telecommunications equipment worldwide, including two-way radios for public safety and government use. A two-way radio allows you to send and receive messages from a single radio. Motorola sells mobile and portable radios, as well as discontinued products for older models. Mobile


According to the Motorola website, mobile radios allow you to communicate with others in any type of environment. Mobile radios communicate over a wireless network. The five models in this category are the ASTRO XTL 1500, ASTRO XTL 2500, ASTRO XTL 5000, APX 6500 and APX 750.


The ASTRO XTL 1500 is for medium size organizations. It is built to withstand dirt, precipitation, shock and vibrations. It also features an alphanumeric eight-digit display, and operates in both analog and digital.


The ASTRO XTL 2500 is for emergency and governmental personnel. It features four different modes: trunked, digital, analog and conventional. It features a LCD display with a 14-digit alphanumeric display.


The ASTRO XTL 5000 is Internet Protocol (IP) enabled and it comes with software that allows you to program the device based on your preferences.

Digital

The APX 6000 features a universal push-to-talk button and a large keypad, and it has a color display. It comes with two microphones and features FIPS 140-2 Level 3 encryption.


The APX 7000 comes with GPS, and it can operate in two different bands at the same time, including VHF, 700/800 MHz and UHF.


The APX 7000XE is for extreme conditions; it is made specifically for emergency responders. It features a large emergency button and a protected push-to-talk button.


According to the Motorola website, the XTS 1500 is designed for utility and public works. Choose from radios with the UHF R1/R2, VHF or 700/800 Mhz.


The XTS 2500 works on both local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), and it is waterproof. It meets the military 810C, 810D, 810E and 810F specifications for weather and shock resistance.


The XTS 5000 is compatible with smartzone, conventional and trunking configurations, and it is IP enabled. It comes with a FLASHport, which allows you to customize the device.


Discontinued

Clean A Toshiba Hdtv Screen







There are two different ways to clean a Toshiba HDTV screen, depending on which type of HDTV you have. Toshiba offers both LCD and plasma screens. It's important that you clean the screen using the correct set of instructions for the screen type you have.


Instructions


Cleaning LCD Screens


1. Pour 1/2 tsp. of distilled water onto a microfiber cloth. Wring out the cloth if it starts to drip. Gently wipe the screen, beginning at the top. Go left to right, and then reverse until you've cleaned the whole screen in steady rows.


2. Check the screen to see if there are any soiled spots remaining. If there are, mix take 2 cups of vinegar and 2 cups of distilled water in a small bowl. Rinse the cloth and then dip it in the bowl. Wring it out and wipe the screen in rows as before.


3. Look at the screen again. If it's completely clean, simply let it air dry. (It shouldn't take long since you didn't use much water.) If there are still spots remaining, try again with a mixture of one part rubbing alcohol and one part water only on the stubborn areas.


Cleaning Plasma Screens








4. Wipe the screen in rows with a dry microfiber cloth, following the same procedure as in Step 1 for the LCD TV.


5. See if the screen came clean from the dry cloth. If not, dip one corner of the cloth into a small dish of distilled water. Wipe the screen with water only in the spots where smudges, dust or debris remain. Keep your screen as dry as possible.


6. Check for soiled spots once again. If there are places that didn't come clean with the water, buy a plasma screen cleaning kit from your local electronics store. Before doing so, call Toshiba at (800) 631-3811 and find out which one is right for your TV. The wrong one could cause permanent damage. The kit will contain a special spray you can use to clean your screen.
